Rana at Chelsea Markets

Italian cuisine and pasta surrounded by retail seafood.

Lots of seafood at Chelsea Market NYC but looking for something more substantial.

Try Giovanni Rana Pastificio E Cucina. Friendly and excellent service and great Italian food.

After a morning walking on the highline in the meatpacking area this is a great restaurant to restore glycogen stores with complex carbs such as pasta.

Check out the highline at http://www.thehighline.org/ for a brisk walk before lunch or dinner. Great views of NYC from a reclaimed railway line. A couple of times from end to end gives a 360 perspective of the urban architecture and burns of 2500 calories over 2 hours.

The Rana is a great place to relax after. Cosy and bustling with warmth of a friendly host of restaurant staff.

Start with delicious bread in a paper basket - dip in olive oil for polyunsaturates.

Spaghetti Bolognaise for protein and complex carbs.

Fish omega 3 fatty acids and heart protection.

Delicious Mussels for minerals and taste.

The Engine room of Rana - its kitchen - open for view by patrons.

The host also provided recipe cards to a little 11 year old girl visiting NYC for the first time on our table. This was a very nice touch.

Check out the restaurant's website at http://www.rananyc.com/ and browse through their menu and shop items. Browse the Chelsea market shops after to allow the food to digest and to avoid post meal slumber.

Wild Ginger Midtown Manhattan

Fusion Asian Food in Manhattan

Wild ginger fusions check out their menu and prices at Wild-Ginger-New-York-Menu By fusion Asian we mean fusion of various Asian regional Cuisines and not East-West fusion.

If you like hot food try their 'fire wok'special. Which is a Thai seafood Lobster curry. Yummy!!

If you want something more proteinlicious try the Salmon steaks

Or if your palate is more bland try the Chicken Rice Manhattan style.

A tasty favourite Sushi for those of us who did not visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art and walked for 6 hours today.

Stir fried Singapore noodles is a hot favourite for a cold winters' night.

There was no room for desert. But do try their sweeteners if there is room. Service is fast and efficient and the food came out hot (or cold if sushi) and satisfying.

Maybe plan to visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art the to walk of this fusion cuisine that ranges from Thai to Japanese with Singaporean and Chinese cuisine flavours thrown in artfully.

The Met is open most days check and this out at Metmuseum opening hours. There are many hours of fast or slow walking to entertain the mind and sight.

Looks like a Van Gogh at the Met or MoMA?

PF Chang's Bistro in White Plains NY

Modern Chinese Food in America

Easy to manage menu. and trendy décor in a high end mall. Driving from Waterbury, CT to NYC a great place to stop of for lunch and some leg stretches. Not to mention exercise the wallet or purse in the shopping mall.

Good service Philosophy and you can monitor the calories at the link on PF Chang's  Calorie menu.

Egg drop noodle soup was one of the starters.

Sweet and sour soup was another starter that was mildly hot and without alot of lipids.

Salads with an oriental dressing another light starter.

Thai chicken Dumplings - Meet the chef Philip Chiang at PC chefs corner

Spicy Chicken was a mild sweet and sour chicken with boiled rice. Maybe better with brown rice for the health conscious.

Fried Noodles - lo mein with 710 calories - we guesstimate that you might need to walk about 2 hours to burn this off.

Fried rice with crab this was the favourite of the day. But need to swim or bike a bit usually for fried rice.

All that food for less then USD100. Very health menu too. When we ordered pad thai without nuts were given a nut free menu. No pad thai on that menu but the crab fried rice was a great alternative.

The restaurant was located in s shopping mall with lots of brand name shops. More importantly it was a great place to walk around and get the circulation going after a large lunch. Check out the mall at White Plains Shopping Mall - Westchester about an hour out of New York, New York. Avoid the bustling crowds on 5th Ave or 7th Ave in Manhattan.

There is a Crate& Barrell, a Williams Sonoma and for those who want to buy kitchen ware after a big lunch. Two and a half hours of shopping and walking around decimated the calories in the lo mien. For those environmentally aficionados you can also buy a Tesla electric car.

Check out the offerings from PF Chang's bistro at pfchangs.com

Aperitivo Pizza Bar in Manhattan

NYC pizzas Midtown near the Courtyard or Marriot Hotel ( where you can work out on the gym on the roof looking down on NYC)

Pizzas are great after walking around NYC all day or after your gym workout.

Large tasty traditional old school pizzas at least 18''.

Select any toppings.

Their menus are available at Aperitivo nyc menus

We tried sausage  (pepperoni) and mushroom.

Also tried prosciutto and broccoli.

The contact details and address.

Nearby hotels include Courtyard and the JW Marriott East Manhattan.

Both hotels have a gym so keep up the training.

Courtyard Courtyard-new-york-manhattan-midtown-east/  is a more open gym and great for aerobic workup, free weights and two weight machines.

Exercise on top of NYC. More free weights and weight machines in the JW Marriott new-york-marriott-east-side/. The gym is on the rooftop and has a great view of the NYC.
