Arnaud Delmontel Paris

Just finished dinner at Bistrot Smiley and looking for dessert. Walked into this patisserie across a small side street on same side of rue des martyrs. Number 39.  Busy place. Selected the apple tartlette bourdaloe and tartele. See photos.  Also the pear tartele au poirs. All just under  £5. We had one of each on the photos. Came to €13.90 Delicious melt in your mouth buttery flavors. The crust is almost crunchy. Must come back for a quiche tomorrow morning before we fly off. Worth a visit if you are in Montmartre area.

Bistrot Smiley Paris

We were looking for dinner after a day shopping. After walking around Rue Des Martyrs we decided on this Bistrot. Food was good. Pork with Jack Daniel sauce €17, confit canard €17, risotto €16 and 6 snails  €9. Food was hot and cooked well. Unfortunately they forgot our pasta penne order. Service was quick. Bill came to €59 without pasta.

Galeries Lafayette Cafe Paris

A break from shopping. In Galeries Lafayette.  £10 for the steak fillet. Medium rare.  £7 for the naked hamburger with fries. Plain meat burger. No bun. Food cooked in front of you. Plenty of seating. Canteen style. Free toilets. Continue shopping straight after.

Breakfast Club Soho

We were looking for a big breakfast. Waited 45 mins for a seat. Shared tables. The full Monty  £10 came with black pudding. The florentine egg benedict was exquisite with chopped chili and toasted peppers. The all American breakfast came with pancakes and bacon for £10. Also had the kale juice with lime. Went really well with the eggs benedict.

La Tazza Paddington

We had English breakfast for £4.5 . There was sunny side eggs, bacon, baked beans and sausage. We also had toast with smoked Salmon & scrambled eggs for £4.1 . The scrambled eggs were great. Light and hot without too much cream or butter. The service was decent.

Amaranto Park Lane

Located in Four Seasons Hotel London in Park Lane. Service +++. Met up with old school friends. Decor of dark marble and wood interiors with warm fire and potraits of royalty.  We had 5 course degustation menu. For £40 per  person. A savory brulee, followed by goose liver with toasted brioche. Then turkey with bread sauce. A panacotta then black forrest desert and sweets with coffee. Service was good and we enjoyed the quiet surroundings. Regaled each other with old school stories. There were complementary cocktails to start. Good location for a get together and chat with old friends or a business dinner.
50000 steps today in London on the pedometer. So no problem with the wide bread selection for carbs that came with dinner.

Tyburn Marylebone London

We just finished walking around Hyde Park  & looking for British fish & chips. For a carb, lipid & liquid rejuvenation.
Stopped by Tyburn for pub grub. Also had bangers & mash £7, salmon & vegetables with strong bow cider £9, chicken & mayo wrap with Pepsi drink £5. The fish & chips were £8. This was great with crunchy battered chips and peas. Most importantly the chips were unsalted. The bar is incredibly busy and you have to compete for seats and tables. You need to order from the bar. Also need to beg the staff to clear the tables as turnover is so rapid they can't keep up. Remember the table number when you order your food. For £30 we had a good British feed.

Maroush Express Marylebone, London

We had just finished shopping on Oxford Street. We picked the restaurant for its decor and and courteous waiting staff. The lentil soup was refreshing. We had the mixed platters, mixed shawarma, lamb and stuffed aubergines. All for £55. My family's first time in a Lebanese restaurant in London. The lamb and rice was delicious and came recommended for someone with nut allergy. There was bread to go with the delicious dips. Finished off with Lebanese  sweets from the staff. Definitely a great way to finish a busy afternoon and evening of shopping on Oxford Street in warm restaurant with great service.
