Italian restaurant near UWA. Little sister to the South Perth Ciao Italia.
Photo before a an evening diner. The pasta servings were large. The fish, a barramundi, was seared and served with a fresh salad. Gnochi was served with mussels. The pizza siciliana was cheesy with crusty dough.
Previously known as Chapter 88. See http://www.chapter88.com.au/ but now Ciao Italia Nedlands. Where we also had lunch.
The steak sandwich for $27. Plenty of crunchy chips. The steak had onions and cheese over it. The bread was crusty and smothered with meat sauce on the soft sides.
We had some friends who were visiting from Taipei. They had been working in Taipei for 4 years. First time in Chapter 88. They found their fish and chips and the Caesar Salad a little too salty.
Members of my family polished off their Fettucine Carbonara and their respective steak sandwiches. Below is a picture of the restaurant seating courtesy of the Chapter 88 Website.
The restaurant was crowded. There were lots of overseas patrons being close to UWA with the international students and staff. The place was moderately busy for a Saturday lunch crowd. There were families with young children seating on tables with sofas. Generally a friendly atmosphere. The waiting staff were efficient and the food came quickly. Servings were large and we were unable to indulge in desert. The diplomat visitors from Taipei were unable to finish their meals.
This restaurant is worth visiting if you are entertaining friends who live or work near UWA. The prices were reasonable for Perth. perhaps not in comparison to other Australian capitals.
Over lunch we gave away one of our old bicycles to our guest. She was going to use for riding between buildings at the university. Good thing we found a good home for the bicycle. She picked the blue bicycle.
The bicycle although not fast could also be used for riding around the Swan river near the university. it has been a long time since we have been to Ciao Italia the big sister restaurant to Chapter 88. However, we recomended it to our diplomat friends from Taipei and told them to ask for the reduced salt menu.
