Bread in common

Very busy with high turnover of patrons.

Lamb on bone.

We had plates to share. Mushrooms, chicken, lamb and potatoes. The lamb had crackling and was served on bone. It was crunch with chewy meaty slivers and thin layer of tasty fat. Mushrooms were succulent and juicy. Potatoes were oven roasted. Chicken was roasted and not spectacular. This wth juice and a got chocolate for 3 set us back $92. We ordered bread and dips but eventually canceled the order. As we finished the plates and were ready to leave. Lots of light bulbs over a hangar full of tables and an open kitchen.

Chimek

Just watched Rogue 1 at GardenCity Hoyts. Dinner at Chimek. Northbridge. Ordered the Tower of Babel. With 6 different types of fried chicken. Southern Fried, crispy lemon pepper, Cajun & creole,Gochujang, Guadalajara cilantro and Tennessee bourbon. The southern fried was crispy & not too salty. My favorite of the 6. After this was the crispy lemon pepper. We were a family of big eaters. But 5 of us had difficulty finishing the Tower of Babel $75 chicken stack. There was plenty of buckets of beers but we had Coca Cola 2 liters and a big basket of chips. This came complimentary with the chicken stack. Definitely good for a beer night & fried chicken binge.

Brunch after gym. Calories galore. We had 3 big breakfast with 3 breads. Brown, white & ciabatta.

Chicken Caesar wrap &

steak sandwich. Nice & light. Extra hash browns. 3 milk shakes - chocolate, strawberry & mango fandango flavors.

\
Also a super calorie iced coffee with cream & ice cream. A zillion calories for all 5 of us. Just kidding. The atmosphere was busy and lots of bustling. Pay before you are served. Unlimited self serve water and condiments. All up $122 for 5. Worth going to the gym for. Close to concert hall & hospital.

Gordon St Garage West Perth

Busy garagey atmosphere with chef yelling out orders and lots of kitchenyyyyy type noise from the open kitchen.

Busy business day reviewing Murdoch. Looking for a drink. After a train ride and pit stop at Alex Hotel in James street we met at the GARAGE.

The waitress was friendly and very busy. Bread was nice. Oysters were sweet.

Lamb was a little raw and chewy.

 The crab linguini was seafoodlicius.

The snapper had crackling seared skin with salt crystals exploding in your mouth.

The bread and butter pudding was cake on the palate.

The cheesee platter had acidity that complimented the coffee.

It was happily paid for by our Alex hotel resident from Singapore. Most mains in $30s or high $20s for dinner.
Almighty bonus. We were able to take 4 dinner buns home courtesy of the house. Nice touch... by brilliant friendly waitress. Sealed the evening...

Jones the Grocer in Dempsey Singapore

Coffee & cake time after Friday lunch. Food knick knacks and sweet things abound.

Seems like a hangout for people who work a 4 day week. So Fridays full gentlemen in shorts and ladies in straw hats. he coffees and hot chocolates came by. Good for us. chocolate was not too hot & not too sweet. Price was ok.

We liked the ambience of a larder, kitchen counter and bakery all in one. With the slight air or organised grocery shop chaos. Some how works for tropical Singapore. Neat, tidy, works but cluttered in an ordered sort of a way. Wah! can do lah!

Palette Bengaluru

Driving down Tomkur highway. Zig zagging between 3 wheel taxis and scooters. Hot rod trucks honking at us. We pass the solid viventa Taj security. Into a hearty hot Thosai or rice pancake breakfast in luxury surroundings. Had chai masala and lentils to super glue the savory indian breakfast. Modern Bangalore furnishings. Relaxed in the courtyard and smooth atmosphere..

Tiamo

Lunch with visiting Japanese exchange student and 3 other teenagers and a working mum. An opportunity to try pasta and seafood. Starting from the back with the dessert selection.
Scrumptious baked risotto was delicious with tiny baby octopus at $32. Rice infused with all the seafood broth.

The lasagne was not quite like how mum made it but with lots of fine mince meat and mushrooms at $25.

The linguini Tiamo reminded us of a stir fried dish with chopped bacon and prawns at 425.

The spag marinara with lots of mussels at $26.

A massive bowl of mussels with hot spicy tomato sauce at $34.

We also had the massive serves of bruschetta for $12 to go with the lovely large chilli mussels. Fortunately we were in training for the Perth City to Surf on the 28 of Aug so all the carbs from the pasta was easily burnt after our 23 km morning run before lunch. Running for 3.5 hours at about 600 calories per hour. At a guesstimate about 2000 calories were burnt. That should equate to a few hefty servings of pasta.

Pump House Kununurra

Working dinner with colleagues. We had the whole barramundi and were not disappointed.

$32 per person for 2 so total $64 with a salad and crusty baked potatoes. Dessert was deconstructed rhubarb crumble for $15 was delicious. There were relics of pumps and shoals of catfish by the river. The air is thick with the scent of fruit bats under the moon light. A definite must visit for the Kununurra experience. Get a seat indoors if u are allergic to mosquitoes but miss out on the warm balmy evening subtropical ambiance. Full bar available and they are ok to split the bill.

Our stuffed Barramundi. Head only left.

Catfish or cobbler outside the pump house restaurant.

The rhubarb and berry crumble. Deconstructed and delicious.

Good food with friends.

Another early start for the day prior to dinner - with a short 14 Km run in the town of Kununurra. Started getting hot by about 7am. But managed to complete the run after 2 hours.

Aubergine Canberra

We had the degustation menu with wines. The salmon was delicate, red mullet subtle,  quail gestational, lamb & black garlic pantomimetic and desert stealthy. Dessert wine was sweet to complement. Service was excellent and non alcoholic cocktails searched the palate. For example the lemon lime & bitters bodered on bitter rather than sweet. The noise levels were low.
