Qantas Club Changi Airport Sept 2012

An oasis in the fast lane!

The Qantas club lounge has traded places with the First class Qantas lounge at Changi airport. There is less space but it is more luxurious.

Passengers can join Qantas club or qualify to get in as Qantas gold frequent flyers. The latter is earned if you fly a couple of times a month interstate or overseas depending on the miles you fly and your status points earned.

Calm down after the longer then 5 hour flight from Australia with healthy starters.

Try a cocktail from tonic and soda water out of a Schweppes can. Add Asian style potato crisp, some greens to soak up the trans fats, grapes for vitamin C and olives for salt.

Get rehydrated after the long flight before the wines and beers.

Maybe a shower before the main meal. Tiled showers to freshen up.

Back to the food. There is a combination of warm starters. Fried rice vermicelli Singapore style, pasta with tomato and 'acar'. The latter consist of blanched vegetables with a spicy coconuty smooth sauce. Yow.. healthy with a zing!!

Then for the heavy stuff like fried chicken to go with the beer or champagne. Alcohol can dehydrate so be sure to chase it down with more still or sparkling water. Or the chilled tonic and soda water cocktail.

A sandwich before the next flight. Ham with mayonnaise gives it a nice twang.

Finally fruit to load up on fibre and vitamins. Banana and dragon fruit if you need some potassium and fibre.

More fruit to megadose on vitamins and keep away any bugs in the air. The fruit selection includes papaya, pineapple and watermelon.

All food and beverages are complimentary in the Qantas club.

Don't forget to check your email or facebook on the Apple computers in the lounge.

You can also have a shower or shave in the rooms available.

Finally to get some air and aerobic activity - do shop around and go for a walk around Changi airport - a great place to transit through. Check it out next time you fly into Singapore. http://www.changiairport.com/

There is also a gym available in Changi Airport for those in training or on the way to a half marathon or triathalon somewhere in Asia, Europe or America.
